What winch-out recovery covers
Recovery is a controlled pull: out of a ditch, off a soft shoulder, over a curb, or off a median. It is not off-road rock crawling and it is not a heavy rotator job. Light-duty winch work fits passenger cars and small trucks. If the vehicle is on its side or tangled with a second car, that is accident recovery, not a simple snatch.
New Orleans geography makes this a regular service. Lake-side streets hold water. West Bank ditches sit close to the pavement. Neutral-ground curbs catch cars that take a corner too fast. A $95 starting rate covers a standard pull when we can stage on solid ground.
How a winch-out works
- Call (504) 414-8034. Describe the surface, how far the car left the pavement, and whether anyone is injured.
- We quote from $95 and add a tow quote if you already know the car will not drive.
- Stay clear of the strap line. We set the truck, pick a rated point, and pull in a straight line when possible.
- Once the car is on pavement, we check for leaking fluids, bent wheels, and a parked transmission.
- If it is unsafe to drive, we load it on a wheel-lift or flatbed the same visit.
When you should stop spinning the tires
If the car has not moved after a few gentle rocks, stop. Spinning in mud or wet grass polishes the trench and can overheat an AWD clutch pack. Put it in park, turn on hazards, and wait. That is cheaper than adding drivetrain damage to a recovery bill.

Local situations we see
Soft ground off Lakeshore Drive, ditch drops along General de Gaulle, and grass shoulders near the West Bank Expressway are weekly pins. After heavy rain, we also pull cars that slid into canal-adjacent grass. If the car was towed by the city instead of stuck, that is a different problem — use our impound guide.
“If the car is already over a curb or in standing water, stop accelerating. Every extra spin buries the rocker panels. Tell us the surface — mud, grass, or concrete — so we bring the right strap and snatch point.”
